Baltimore Uprising

The death of Freddie Gray, a 25 year old black male who sustained fatal injuries while in police custody, sparked mass protests throughout Baltimore City. This photo series depicts the surreal state of a city where heightened presence of law enforcement juxtaposed with crowds of Baltimore residents in peaceful protest after the announcement that six police officers will be charged for the events surrounding Gray's death. 

Gay Marriage SCOTUS Decision

Day's leading to the The Supreme Court historic decision on whether same sex couples have the constitutional right to marry, thousands of protesters on both sides of the issues flooded downtown Washington D.C. 

Assault on Justice

Images from a the five-month long investigation involved analysis of more than 2000 cases of a civilian being  charged with "assault on a police officer"  in Washington D.C. The findings raised concerns about the overuse and vagueness of the law, especially in circumstances where altercations lead to police officer's using force. Photographs taken for the WAMU News and the Investigative Reporting Workshop's investigative series Assault on Justice, co-produced with Reveal from The Center of Investigative Reporting. and depict lawmakers, victims, and law enforcement officers that stand on multiple sides of the law.
